Galen – Jaclyn Osborn

Synopsis

Simon just wants to run his antique shop in peace.

But then he finds a small mysterious box that’s (probably) haunted, and his shop is broken into by the hottest man he’s ever seen who then steals said creepy box. Now demons are after him and his only hope is to trust the tall, muscled, combat-boot-wearing thief who claims to be the son of a fallen angel.

Galen is charged with protecting humanity from dark forces. Cursed with Wrath, he’s hot-tempered and spends his days fighting demons and trying not to kill his six brothers when they irritate him.
His number one rule? Never fall in love. But then he meets Simon, a clumsy human who asks way too many questions and is—unfortunately—a total demon-magnet, and he starts breaking his own rules.

What’s inside the box, and why do the demons want it so badly? One thing is for sure… Simon can kiss his peaceful, ordinary life goodbye.

Book 1 in the Sons of the Fallen series. A low-angst urban fantasy MM romance featuring a grumpy half-angel and the human he swears he doesn’t like (he’s lying), seven warriors representing the deadly sins, a seaside mansion where they all live, banter, a snarky demon, and a HEA.

My Thoughts

Once I started this book, I was completely unable to put it down. I fell headfirst into the universe and the folklore and didn’t want to find my way back out again.

Galen is one of seven fallen sons – the sons of the original fallen angels who rebelled with Lucifer. As their sons, they also personify one of the seven deadly sins (though at one time, there was an 8th, lost to time and history). Galen and his brothers, as he calls them, trapped Lucifer long ago and have since kept a keen watch over humanity ever since. Things have been relatively quiet, until Galen steps foot in Simon’s antique shop.

Simon didn’t really know what he was getting into when he purchased items from an auction. A spelled box with a powerful item inside was definitely not at the top of his list of possibilities. Not until he met Galen.

Suddenly, Simon finds himself headfirst in a world of demons, angels, Nephilim, and all sorts of other supernatural beings. Demons are after the box, and Galen and his brothers vow to protect it, and Simon, so long as the demons pose a threat. It’s all extremely overwhelming – as are Simon’s feelings for Galen.

Galen and Simon are inexplicably drawn to each other. It doesn’t take long before feelings become involved, no matter how hard Galen tries not to let his heart get potentially broken again. But he can’t help it – Simon is a perfect match for him, and for Wrath, whether he likes it or not.

The more drawn they are to each other, the more danger lurks around every corner. Something big is coming, and Galen is determined to ensure Simon is safe and protected no matter what comes. When he’s finally ready to accept how important Simon is to him – that Simon is his mate – all hell breaks loose.

A great danger has surfaced, and now the fallen sons know what they’re up against – they just don’t yet know why, or just how far the danger goes. But they’re definitely going to find out.
